The importance of the background at childrenhood

South Corea, Finland and Shangai have got the best results on PISA envy but, are their educational models better than the other?

These countries have highly qualified teachers and this benefits children because they know how teach students.Teachers should encourage children and make them think over and acquire new knowledge. They should be encouraged at home too, not only at school. At these countries, the motivation becomes very hard and strict.Children are brought under pressure and competitiveness. This competition to get the best marks doesn’t attend the children’s needs. They need other motivation.Growing up with strict rules and punishment could have bad consequences.
The excessive competitiveness takes place only in some countries.

Others manage another way of teaching, but not better. The others countries doesn’t consider the excessive pressure neither encourage students and this is a big mistake.School can’t be a boring place. This is the base of the children’s knoweldge and they should be motivated to go to school.Students can related with others students, have leisure time and of course learn new knowledge at school.A good education is essential for future’s children.Children are naturally curious and at school this curiosity should be encourage to amplify children’s knowledge. To create a good environment for children is vital too for their develop. It helps children  to develop other abilities, critical thinking to take decisions themselves, creative thinking, to learn the importance of the values, to get on at society in the future, etc.

Children are the future of society.Teachers should be a guide and maximize their capabilities to develop and overcome themselves. It’s necessary to change our minds and focus on children’s needs. If we change our minds, we will changed the society.

Visual and musical culture

Last weeks in class of Comunication we were talking about the musical and visual culture. We made some activities with Sara and we realised these are different and interesting ways to teach and learn at schools.
The first class she told us about a creative project  where children could learn to analyze artworks .Sara explained how children developed their creativity and imagination through this activity. We made in class an example of that.We divided in groups and Sara gave us some artworks to analyze and made questions about it.We explained each other what the artwork transmited us.
We learnt how we can interpret the same artwork from different points of view. This is a good activity to develop the children’s creativity. They can express what they feel when they look at the artworks and why they feel there.Teachers also can learn with the children’s vision of the word.
The next class we practised the musical culture. We listened a sound story and then, we had to express what was happened in that story. We created similiar stories only with the sounds we had heard.
(Here there is an example of a sound narrative.)

We realised the importance of music and art. These are everywhere and we should know it’s very useful for children. We can teach them to approach art by a dynamic and fun way and children can learn new vocabulary, to develop their critical thinking, to express their feelings, to analyze artworks or musical works, to develop their creativity, etc.

Learning theories

Yesterday we explained the different kinds of learning theories with some examples .We divided in groups and each group had to create his own example and explain it to the rest of the partners.

It was an interesting class because we make a lot of different activities. When we finished these activities, we analyzed, how they would feel if they participated in this, if they would understand it, if it would be useful for them, etc. I realised how difficult is to teach children. You should take into account whether the child is learning with your activity and if he is amusing too because at this way, the child’ll want to know more things.

I think we could improve our activities but we showed everthing we had learnt and we created very interesting activities.

A summary about we have learnt

In these weeks we have learnt what a curriculum is, the different kinds of learning, the influence of some factors like society, culture, environment in the children development, a little about the last and the current education policy of Spain, and the goals of Primary Education. We have learnt too different points of view about the aims of education according to some philosophers(Plato, Rousseau, Deway) and how to organize a class. We saw a video about education in the USA.It’s a country that inverts a lot of money in education but the results are one of the worst develop countries.

In relation to the curriculum, we have learnt its different levels:
-In the 1st level appear the national curriculum and the communities curriculum. It reflects the education aims to develop.
-In the 2nd level we find the Center’s Educational Project, a tool of planning in accordance with the school
-In the 3rd level appear the class programme, a study planning that use educators in their classes
-In the 4th level appears the special needs to children who have different development

The curriculum must promote to prepare the students for the opportunities and responsibilities and experiences of adult life.In conclusion, to improve this, education should be individualized and cover all subjects.
